One of the world’s biggest payment processors, Visa, has announced that it is launching a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection, dubbed the “Visa Masters of Movement.”

The collection will be launched in partnership with Crypto.com, a sponsor of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The Visa Masters of Movement Collection

One of the world’s biggest payment processors, Visa, has announced the launch of a new NFT collection, christened “Visa Masters of Movement.” The collection is designed to engage football fans during the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar. The company described the NFT collection as a “first of its kind” hybrid experience. The collection will feature a pre-event NFT auction and immersive activation for football and NFT fans.

Senior Vice President at Visa, Andrea Fairchild, stated,

“As FIFA World Cup 2022™ approaches, we want to celebrate football, art, and technology through the lens of what makes the FIFA World Cup™ so special – wildly impassioned fans, legendary athletes, and, for a few short weeks, the ability to bring the world together in a uniquely connected way.”

Details Of The Collection

The Visa Masters of Movement collection will feature unique avatars, digital artworks, and other collectibles. All of these will be curated and inspired by the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup competitions. The NFTs in the collection take inspiration from iconic goals scored by five individual footballers, which will be minted into NFTs. The footballers featured in the NFTs are Tim Cahill, Jared Borgetti, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen, and Maxi Rodriguez.

The collection will be available on Crypto.com, Visa’s exchange trading partner. Fans who wish to participate in the NFT auction can participate in the bidding process, which will remain open until the 8th of November. The collection will make its official debut during the FIFA Fan Festival, scheduled for later this month. The Fan Festival will begin on the 19th of November and end on the 18th of December.

Recreate Iconic Moments

The Visa Masters of Movement will also enable fans to create their own special NFTs, taking inspiration from their favorite footballing moments. The tokenized assets will then be minted on Crypto.com, which is also an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup. Creators can choose their preferred color scheme based on their national colors. The artwork can serve as gifts and souvenirs, with winners having the option to mint the collectibles as one-of-a-kind NFTs.

Speaking about the collection and its potential for fan engagement, Chief Marketing Officer at Crypto.com, Steven Kalifowitz, stated,

“The FIFA World Cup™ is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world, and we are incredibly excited to give fans a new way to engage with this epic event. We are thrilled to partner with Visa in bringing Visa Masters of Movement to life and offering fans the opportunity to create and collect the most unique collectibles at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ that will live forever on the blockchain.”

FIFA Exploring Crypto And Metaverse

FIFA has been dabbling in the crypto and NFT ecosystem in recent months. Back in July, the governing body applied for a Metaverse trademark ahead of the World Cup. FIFA had also announced a partnership with Algorand, making the latter the first official blockchain platform sponsor. The partnership establishes Algorand as a regional supporter in North America and Europe for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, Algorand will also be the official sponsor for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
