After This Friday, Only Three Million Bitcoin Will Be Left to Mine

This Friday, the 18 millionth bitcoin is expected to be mined. This is according to the co-founder of investment firm Morgan Creek Digital Assets Anthony Pompliano who sent the following tweet out last week:

“This Friday the 18 millionth Bitcoin will be mined.

There are only #3MillionLeft

Let’s make this hashtag trend so the world can learn about Bitcoin 🔥

One user responded to the tweeter saying, “Miners competing for the last 3 million bitcoin has also never been higher, with hashrate at an all-time high.”

This initiative might not be all that surprising for some of you given that Pomp has said that over half of his net worth is in Bitcoin whilst in an interview for CNBC’s Squawk Box.

With more coins being mined every day, the halving of Bitcoin is quickly approaching. This heavily anticipated event is one the space is very much looking forward to as it will be the third having of Bitcoin since its creation over ten years ago. The event will see the amount of Bitcoin developed by Satoshi with each new block sliced into two.

Before we go any further though, it’s worth saying that we aren’t financial investors and this isn’t financial advice. Please do your own research before putting your money in a cryptocurrency and always remember to trade safe!

As reported by CT:

“BitcoinBlockHalf estimates that on 14 May 2020 — the date is tentative, given the irregularity of Bitcoin’s block time — the block reward will be cut from 12.5 to 6.25 coins. The website also points out that 85.7% of all coins have already been mined.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
