A Slovakian Cryptocurrency platform is the latest exchange to be a victim of a hack. More than $5 million worth of Cryptocurrency has been made off from these hackers according to early reports.
Even though the platform is a relatively small exchange compared to some of the bigger businesses throughout the industry, Eterbase has a trading volume of around $3 million on a daily basis.
Numerous aspects of digital currency were stolen in the attack including bitcoin, the native token to ripple and the second biggest Cryptocurrency, Ethereum.
As is normal with attacks such as these, the stolen funds were spread far and wide throughout the industry. Representatives from the company have explained that the hackers had breached the Internet-connected hot wallets and extracted the funds from the platform.
The company has reached out to all of the major platforms throughout the industry including Binance. This is because these platforms were used as a funnelling device from the attackers. As of yet, there is no news on how well this has turned out. An official statement has been released by the company though as they detailed the incident and their future plans for investigating the matter.
“We have reported the matter to law enforcement and we are cooperating closely in the investigation. We want to assure our clients that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure that the amount of their deposit does not suffer any damage as a result of a hacker attack.”
They further go on to say:
“Due to ongoing investigation more details can not be announced currently. Sorry for the inconvenience and please have some patience until we solve the issue.”
