Following the hectic Twitter back in July, scammers have once more taken over a prominent individuals account in order to scam as many people out of the cryptocurrency as possible. This time, the political figure and Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi is the victim of such a hack.

A local news report revealed that the Prime Minister‘s Twitter account was targeted by a group of hackers operating under the name, John Wick. His Twitter account was also associated with his personal website and mobile application.

After the Hack, many tweets were sent out on the 2nd of September which told his 2.5 million followers to donate generously to the National relief fund for COVID-19. Before they were quickly taken down, at least two wallet addresses for bitcoin and the Ethereum where visible. Luckily, no funds were sent to either addresses.

“Now India begin with crypto currency. Kindly Donate Bitcoin.”

The group called ‘John Wick’ that claimed responsibility for this scam, explicitly stated that it did not hack e-commerce marketplace Paytm Mall. This comes after a hacker once took to the Internet to boast about the hack in an online forum based in Russia.

As previously mentioned, this comes after the 15th of July breach which saw former US President Barack Obama and Vice President, Joe Biden have their Twitter accounts hacked by malicious individuals who offered their followers a fraudulent giveaway of bitcoin.

The 17-year-old Graham Ivan Clark, allegedly behind this hack, has been arrested by authorities with a fourth hacker under investigation.
