Coca-Cola Amatil, a major Asia-Pacific to soft drink bottle and distributor will have its vending machines now accept cryptocurrency for its goods. This all comes following a new deal linked with the digital assets platform Centrapay. The news was announced earlier this week on the 8th of June.

Coca-Cola Amatil has a network of more than 2000 vending machines all over New Zealand and Australia. This new movement of cryptocurrency acceptance will give consumers the ability to spend their well earned digital assets by using a smartphone camera to scan a QR code payment sticker. This will be provided that they have the Sylo smart wallet installed on their phone.

For those that don’t know the Sylo smart wallet is a decentralised app that you can download on your phone that integrates messaging services with a digital wallet. The app has support for major digital currencies such as any ERC-20 token and of course, bitcoin.

The CEO of the digital assets platform, Jerome Faury has highlighted that there is a greater awareness needed in order to reduce the physical contact in retail locations due to the public health crisis brought on by COVID-19 this year. The company's deal with Coca-Cola Amatil is one of the first steps in bringing easy access to Cryptocurrency for people in Australia and New Zealand. Faury further went on to say:

“Now we’ve shown how it can work in Australia and New Zealand, we’re looking to grow the business globally. We’ve established a presence in North America and will be targeting the U.S. market next.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
