Suing YouTube: Steve Wozniak is one of the many celebrities affected by the YT crypto scams
  • Steve Wozniak is one of the many people who has been affected by the fake bitcoin giveaway scams that are present on the YouTube video platform.
  • Lawyers for Wozniak have sued the platform and its parent company Google for not acting quick enough to ban such content fooling in unwilling investors.

One of the cofounders of the tech conglomerate Apple, Steve Wozniak is one of the many people who has been affected by the fake bitcoin giveaway scams that are present on the YouTube video platform.

Lawyers for Wozniak have sued the platform and its parent company Google for not acting quick enough to ban such content fooling in unwilling investors. According to an announcement published earlier this week on the 22nd of July, the law firm Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, Google and YouTube failed to protect its users from these fraudulent bitcoin giveaway scam channels which featured videos of Wozniak and other celebrities in order to sell their scam.

The idea of these giveaways scam channels is that they state that anyone who sent them Cryptocurrency to a certain address, will receive much more Cryptocurrency in return. Of course, the reality is that they will return nothing as a result. Wozniak said the following:

"If YouTube had acted quickly to stop this to a reasonable extent, we would not be here now. YouTube, like Google, seems to rely on algorithms and no special effort requiring custom software was employed quickly in these cases of criminal activity. If a crime is being committed, you must be able to reach humans capable of stopping it. What human would see posts like these and not ban them as criminal immediately?"

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
