Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India has recently given the thumbs up for blockchain technology as an opportunity in frontier technology which gives further hope that the country is warming up to the nascent industry.
In a keynote address at the Indian ideas summit, the Prime Minister pitched the nation as a haven for multinational investors. Part of his speech included an endorsement for blockchain technology as an investment opportunity.
He further went on to say:
“Opportunities in technology also include opportunities in the frontier technologies of 5G, Big data analytics, Quantum computing, Blockchain and Internet of things,”
Modi further said that half a billion people in India have already been connected to the Internet with the rest of them are waiting connection to one of the 21st-century biggest technological advances. This is a big problem that presents a major opportunity for companies to expand into a bigger market. When it comes to other countries such as China, they remain largely closed off to foreign tech businesses. But India wants to do the opposite and open up to outside sources. During the last six years, India has made many efforts to make its economy more open and read from orientated for the future.
