When COVID-19 took over the world at such a fast pace, it raised a lot of questions about how our government and authorities are prepared to face such an enemy. An enemy that you cannot see but can harm you in unimaginable ways.

Stemming from China, coronavirus has had a massive impact on our daily lives with people in the United States and United Kingdom even feeling the impact of this vicious virus. As a result of this, authorities in China are attempting to strengthen their preparedness to epidemics such as coronavirus and have identified blockchain as a key component to this response.

The Chinese circular of the national health commission released a plan at the end of June on the 30th and explained how to ramp up its information technology support in case of future pandemics. A key component of the strategy is to use blockchain technology as it will help enhance data sharing amongst medical institutions.

The commission is attempting to encourage health departments to promote data sharing and a collaboration between online hospitals as well as physical medical institutions. They further state that blockchain should be integrated in order to achieve the safe flow and authorise access of medical data of different patients. They further state:

“Local health departments should promote the data docking between ‘internet hospitals’ and regional information platforms and medical institutions at all levels, connect online and offline service links, and provide patients with whole process continuous services covering pre diagnosis, during diagnosis and after diagnosis.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
