After netting almost 20,000 validators within just two days of its launch on the 18th of April, the test net for ETH saw a warm welcome by the community.

This all came after the Genesis block was successfully mined on the ecosystem which triggered interest on the new network.

The community around ETH 2.0 and it’s testnet launch is primarily pushed due to its capabilities for potentially changing the game. The new development is officially known as Ethereum Topaz which is created by Prysmatic Labs. These are a team of engineers focused on creating a new blockchain architecture for the platform and ecosystem.

The Topaz infrastructure is set to replace the current test network of Sophia. This new test net is a major step forward for the project as the whole network is aiming to shift itself from a proof of work protocol to a proof of stake protocol.

This new change will see many miners move from a system that validation is necessary through complex mathematical computations to a more efficient system. especially when it comes to energy.

With the ETH test and it successfully launched, the door is not open for the main net to conditionally schedule in for July this year. The co-founder of the protocol, Vitalik Buterin took to Twitter to announce the news and also indicated that the network could see a new era for blockchain.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
