Two-time world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has announced his own NFT collection to support the war and relief efforts in his native country of Ukraine

Gummy Bears For Relief

The collection has been titled “Vandalz for Ukraine: WhIsBe x Wladimir Klitschko,” and is available for collectors to mint in a tiered pricing model, with three price points of $100, $1000, and $10,000 on the OpenSea marketplace. The Brooklyn-based artist behind the creative design of the collection, who goes by the pseudonym WhIsBe (short for What Is Beauty), commented on the collab, saying,

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be of service for the greater good. It’s incredible to be able to use my art and this emerging technology to help others in need and provide immediate relief to any location in the world.”

WhIsBe is renowned for his famous “Vandal Gummy” bears artwork, which will be incorporated in each item in the collection. The colors of the Ukrainian flag, blue and yellow, will also feature heavily in each NFT. Other than the three price points, one particular NFT has been listed at $1 million to provide more funds towards the crisis relief efforts of Ukraine.

Agency Waives Fees

The collaboration that birthed the NFT collection was facilitated by Metacurio, which is a NFT-focused creative agency for A-list talent and global brands. All associated partners have waived their fees and all the funds received from the sale of the NFT collection will be donated to the relief efforts being conducted by Red Cross Ukraine and UNICEF.

Speaking on the collection and its contribution towards Ukraine’s war efforts, Metacurio’s founders Sophie Watt and Jeff Hood, said,

"This is not just a chance to own an astonishing piece of art history but, more importantly, an easy way to directly support the people of Ukraine who are in crisis right now."

Boxing Champion Picks Up Arms

Wladimir Klitschko, who is the longest-reigning heavyweight boxing world champion in the world, has chosen to come to the forefront of the country’s military resistance by fighting on the frontlines, despite his celebrity status. Speaking about the NFT collection, Klitschko said,

“It is a magnificent initiative, a support through art at the service of people who suffer. Art can be beautiful on many levels when used to serve humanity.”

His brother, Vitali Klitschko, who also was a boxer and is now the mayor of Kiev has also joined the war by picking up arms to defend his country.
