Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has announced that he will be converting part of his salary to Bitcoin. He made the announcement while announcing that he has partnered with Square Inc’s Cash App. As part of the partnership, Rodgers will also be giving away $1 million in Bitcoin.

Partnership With Cash App

Aaron Rodgers took to Twitter to announce his partnership with Cash App, stating,

“I believe in Bitcoin & the future is bright. That’s why I’m teaming up with Cash App to take a portion of my salary in bitcoin today.”

He also announced the Halloween giveaway in a Halloween-themed video, where Rodgers was dressed as John Wick.

“Bitcoin is a new concept, and it can be intimidating. So to make it more accessible to my fans, I’m giving away $1 million worth of bitcoin right now.”

The giveaway will continue until 8th November, with the winners receiving $100 each in Bitcoin.

Latest Athlete In the Crypto Game

Rodgers is the latest professional athlete that has dived into the crypto space. In July of this year, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley announced that he would be accepting all future endorsement deals in Bitcoin. Footballing icon Lionel Messi also revealed back in August that he would be receiving part of his salary in cryptocurrency.

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, had earlier in the year acquired an equity stake in crypto exchange FTX. He also traded 1 BTC with a fan in exchange for his 600th career touchdown ball.

Brady has also helped to launch Autograph. Autograph is a non-fungible token (NFT) platform. Brady and longtime friend and teammate Rob Gronkowski helped launch the platform, while Brady has also appeared in commercials for Crypto exchange FTX.

Tom Brady And Gisele Bundchen’s FTX Partnership

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have also signed a long-term deal with cryptocurrency exchange FTX that sees the American Football player and model-turned activist acquiring an equity stake in the exchange.

The press release announcing the partnership also highlighted the charitable aspect of the partnership, with both partners committing to a multi-million dollar annual charitable commitment during the duration of the partnership. The partnership will also see Bundchen assume the role of Head of Environmental & Social Initiatives with FTX, explore avenues of reducing the exchange’s carbon footprint, and focus on equality and diversity within the company.
