Globally iconic entertainment brand and studio, Marvel has recently partnered up with VeVe to offer popular MCU characters and comics as digitally collectible NFTs.
New Direction For Collectible Industry
Marvel has tied up with the VeVe Digital Collectibles app to launch global digital collectibles. Marvel fans will now be able to purchase and interact with official Marvel NFT digital collectibles on the VeVe app platform. These collectible NFTs will include static and animated 3D digital statues and digital comics from the extensive Marvel Comics range. This move will make NFTs and the world of digital collecting even more mainstream by merging pop culture with blockchain applications.
Marvel Fans To Experience Diverse Collecting Experience
The Marvel fanbase is already known for spending millions of dollars every year on Marvel memorabilia and collectibles. With the introduction of augmented reality virtual collectibles, the fans will be able to diversify their collecting experience. For example, interactive statues of iconic Marvel superheroes and rare-edition comics will now be made available to the entire fanbase irrespective of geographical location. People can also conduct buying and selling operations with these NFTs on the VeVe marketplace.
Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment, clarified further, saying,
“Since the beginning, collecting has always gone hand in hand with being a Marvel fan. Like us, VeVe understands collecting is about the experience just as much as the product, and we look forward to extending that experience for our fans over the years to come."
VeVe NFT Platform Opens Up To Marvel Fanbase
VeVe NFT digital collectibles are minted on the blockchain, which provides an uneditable proof of authentication and allows buyers to collect their digital products through a fun and engaging experience. Since last December, VeVe has sold over 580,000 NFT digital collectibles to its user base of over 340,000.
Co-founder and COO of VeVe, Dan Crothers, commented on the partnership,
“This is a truly pivotal moment for VeVe and the digital collectibles space. I am beyond excited to offer an exciting range of MARVEL digital collectibles to fans and collectors through VeVe.”
NFTs Continue Mainstream Journey
The initial nudge that pushed NFTs into the zeitgeist was provided by institutional support from Beeple and Christie’s. Crypto artist Beeple made headlines for selling the highest-valued crypto art piece to date, at a staggering $69 million. One of the earliest brand adopters was the NBA, which released its "NBA Top Shot" NFT collectibles in October.
This was followed up by endorsements and participation by celebrities and well-known industry leaders. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey converted his first tweet to an NFT and sold it at the whopping rate of $2.9 million for charity. Paris Hilton auctioned the NFT of a painting of her cat on Ethereum-based auction platform Cryptograph for 40 ETH (approximately $17,000). With the Marvel fanbase now as a prospective user market, NFTs are likely to see even more mainstream adoptions.
