Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
You know him best from playing Dwight Schrute in the office US but the actor Rainn Wilson has just claimed to be the man who created the leading cryptocurrency.
Speaking in a YouTube video earlier this week, Wilson jokingly claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto as a part of a crypto-based charity event which he took part in, Mona Foundation.
Speaking in the video, he said:
“My name is not Rainn Wilson, nor is it Dwight Schrute. My name is Satoshi Nakamoto, inventor of Bitcoin… that's what I would say had I invented Bitcoin, which I did not.”
The actor even went on to say that he is offering virtual dinners to people who donate 10+ bitcoin to the charity. Adding that he would even give a Twitter shoutout to those who give $1000 in any cryptocurrency in the market.
Wilson hasn’t shied away from discussing cryptocurrency in the past. He has used his platform online to push for other donations in cryptocurrency before. In 2019, he even asked people to jokingly donate their “ worthless cryptocurrency“ to non-profits.
More recently, the actor said that cryptocurrency was the most “tax efficient“ way to make donations in today’s world.
