Over the weekend, the well-known naysayer and hater of bitcoin, Peter Schiff found that his own bank was on the renewed scrutiny due to a criminal investigation investigated on a global scale.

According to a report from a newspaper in Australia, The Age and the New York Times, a joint task force of tax authorities from some of the biggest western governments have teamed up. This is following the news that hundreds of accounts at the Puerto Rico based euro Pacific bank are under investigation for tax evasion as well as other financial indecencies.

In reports, it highlights what seems to be an organisation being responsible for holding the fortunes of many illegitimate businessmen and entrepreneurs, not to mention criminals. The reports further goes on to say how the bank could have tainted public holdings of some of the biggest assets in the world, including Peters favourite, gold.

Former investigator for the federal police in Australia, John Chevis was interviewed in the report saying that:

"I was very surprised… I think there's a significant risk that some of the gold held within the Perth Mint by customers of the Euro Pacific Bank may be held beneficially for criminals in other parts of the world."

Interestingly, Peter took part in an interview with the same publication early this year which ended with him storming out of the questions. Before he did that though, he denied any legitimacy about euro Pacific bank saying that the institution “turns down more accounts than they approve“. He puts this down to their compliance being so rigourous.
