US November special election could see Kelly Loeffler stand up to the competition

The Republican Senator and former chief executive officer of the Bakkt platform, Kelly Loeffler could be going up against a better organised and more supportive Democratic candidate in the special election taking place in November. Even though she doesn’t face any risk in the June 9 primary, everything seems to be resting on what could happen in November.

Early returns are still coming in from the June 9 Democratic primary which determined the Challenger to David Perdue’s United States Senate seat in Georgia.

This November, the Georgia senate special election will be seen as a free for all, candidates from both parties will appear on the same Ballot third of November. If no one receives the majority of the vote in this time, the two top finishers will meet in a runoff election in the 2021 January election.

Governor Kemp had appointed Kelly to replace the retired Senator, Johnny Isakson. Before this announcement, Loeffler was the chief executive officer of the institutional bitcoin futures platform, Bakkt.

Senators are typically elected however, the 17th Amendment right to the United States Constitution allows the executive authority of states to feel temporary vacancies until an election can be played out.
