Hester Peirce has been nominated by the United States president, Donald Trump to be a member of the United States securities and exchange commission for a second term ending in 2025. Peirce has been called crypto mum by the crypto community for being one of the most enthusiastic advocates for the market.

As a woman in her position, the SEC makes some significant decisions when it comes to the world of crypto. With a member of the crypto community (so to speak) in such a high position within the commission, who knows what that will achieve in the future?

The announcement was made earlier this week on the 2nd of June on the White House's website. The executive branch of the United States government has said that it had sent 10 notifications for unfilled positions in government all those that were up for renewal to the Senate for approval. Hester was one of the names that were put forward. She has served as one of five commissioners for the securities commission since 2018 with her first term set to finish today, June 4. But this nomination would have her in office until the 5th of June 2025 if it gets approved by the Senate.

Hester is well known within the industry for proposing a safe harbour for the securities commission registration for decentralised token projects earlier this year in February. This proposal would allow developers on a network to a three-year grace period in order to build a decentralised network as well as a truck to participants before being subject to regulations from the commission.
