We have seen the number of cryptocurrency ATMs grow significantly over the past two years. In fact, the last time we did it article on bitcoin ATMs, was when the number was at around 4000 worldwide. Now we can happily say that that number has been able to go up to 7000 with machines in over 70 countries.

Going off research from CoinATMRadar, 7044 cryptocurrency ATMs are currently in existence (at the time of writing), with this seeing machines hosting different kinds of cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin. This includes cryptocurrencies such as Dash and Litecoin.

The first bitcoin ATM was installed in 2013 when a company called Robocoin installed the machine in a coffee shop in Vancouver. This allowed customers to trade Bitcoin for cash and vice versa. On its launch day, the machine in question transacted more than $10,000 in bitcoin.

Currently, there are over 40 different manufacturers make crypto ATMs.

This is great for adoption for the cryptocurrency industry. Since the great rise of 2017 and a great fall of 2018, things have been a little lacklustre in the industry. With an increasing number of bitcoin machines and the upcoming halving in May, we can expect some big things from the industry of the course of the next few years.

It will be interesting to see how this number grows over time and how many ATMs will be installed this time next year!. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
