The new Shelley era of Cardano is aiming to change the protocol and encourage the community for greater decentralisation. At the end of this new era though, Cardano is expecting to see up to 100 times more decentralisation and any other big blockchain network.

According to this roadmap, this entails immigration of the Shelley mainnet. The launch date has been delayed due to several factors over the past few months however, the CEO of IOHK, Charles Hoskinson has explained several crucial aspects to this.

He has said:

“Byron reboot and the Shelley Haskell testnet – once those two events happen then we are a hundred percent confident.”

These were two of the biggest milestones for the protocol. The Byron Reboot has been set to be one of the most significant releases for the company and has essentially “100% re-written code, security audited, built with formal methods and it’s a 100% built in-house”.

Furthermore, the Shelley Haskell testnet was another big milestone for the company. The big focus for this was to create an environment that would enable mitigation from the Rust programming language to Haskell.

COVID-19

As reported by CryptoDaily earlier today, Hoskinson has calmed down enthusiasts in regards to the progress of the mainnet launch for Shelley. Hoskinson said, “Shelley has not been delayed due to corona. We are on our internal schedule.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
