After becoming the victim of a bitcoin scammer, one crypto user took to Reddit to look for legal recourse on the matter. The user in question only lost around $200 worth of Bitcoin however, they wanted to report the crime and was curious about where they could do it.
The user in question is clearly a newer member to the space as BTC transactions cannot be traced and finding someone to report scams to is going to a very hard job.
In explaining how much he lost, the user put:
“Roughly 0.03 btc ~$200 usd. Not a huge amount, but a loss for sure. Just sucks because btc is such a gray area in terms of recovery from LE.”
But as a user said in response:
“Haha gray? Not at all. You’re in charge. In the future some private company may provide some crypto style” fdic” type insurance but be prepared to get grilled and thoroughly investigated . We’re a long way away from that if ever. Sucks man. Don’t trust anyone. Triple check every action at minimum and if it’s too good to be true it for sure is.”
This is why we always say, please do your own research before putting your money in a cryptocurrency and always remember to trade safe!
It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out however, it is unlikely that anything will come up for the scam victim. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
