Keanu Reeves owns crypto, is a HODLER, and finds NFTs laughable

Hollywood actor and Matrix star Keanu Reeves has shared his thoughts on cryptocurrency, revealing in an interview with the Verge that he owns some cryptocurrency.

Keanu Reeves may be best known for his role as Neo in the Matrix movies, however the Hollywood actor recently revealed that he is also a crypto hodler. In an interview with co-star Carrie-Ann Moss, Reeves discussed the interactive Matrix experience created by Epic Games as part of their  upcoming Unreal Engine 5, as well as Reeves and Moss’s role in Matrix Ressurections.

The actors discussed virtual worlds, and how the concept of gaming has shifted over the last decade. When asked what their thoughts were on the metaverse, with Reeves noting:

“Can we just not have metaverse be invented by Facebook? The concept of metaverse is like way older than that. It’s like a way older, and so for that moment to get to… I’m just like, ‘Come on, man.'”

They also broached the subject of cryptocurrency, with Reeves noting: “a friend of mine bought some from me awhile back,” adding that he hasn’t yet done anything with it because “I haven’t had to.”

The interviewer explained the term ‘HODL’ to Reeves, who laughed while admitting that he “has a little HODL”.

On the subject of NFTs, Reeves was equally candid, seemingly laughing off the recent NFT drop by the Matrix franchise,  after the interviewer informed them of the following:

“They made NFTs for the new movie, and there were like a 100,000 of them, and the site broke in the first few hours, because there were over 300,000 people in the queue trying to buy these NFTs for $50,”

“I wonder what, do we get a cut of that?” he jokingly asked his co-star Carrie-Ann Moss.
