The former First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump has announced that she will be launching an NFT platform as her first venture since leaving the White House.

Melania Trump’s New NFT Initiative

As per a statement released by The Office of Melania Trump, the former first lady will be launching an NFT platform powered by Parler, a social networking service that has gained favor amongst far-right conservatives and extremists. Exclusive NFTs will also be released regularly on MelaniaTrump.com, with a portion of the funds raised being donated to help children aging out of the foster care program. The proceeds will be used to provide the children with resources in the fields of computer science and technology in order to achieve economic empowerment.

“Melania’s Vision” NFT Launch

The first NFT has been titled “Melania’s Vision” and will feature a watercolor art of Mrs. Trump’s eyes painted by artist Marc-Antoine Coulon. It will drop on December 16 and will be available for purchase until December 31.

Speaking on the new initiative, Mrs. Trump said,

"I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative. Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community.”

According to some reports, the NFT has been listed at 1 SOL (approximately $180) and will also include an audio recording of a “message of hope” from Mrs. Trump.

Solana And MoonPay Not Excited

The announcement also mentioned that the NFT records would be held on the Solana blockchain, and the crypto fintech startup MoonPay would be used to provide payment services. However, both the companies have come forward to notify the public that there was no partnership between them and the first lady’s office. In fact, according to a Solana representative,

“I wanted to inform you, to avoid any confusion, that her choice to use the Solana blockchain was completely organic and this project is not part of any Solana-led initiative,”

Furthermore, another representative, this time from MoonPay, has also pointed out that it is not possible to make credit card payments through MoonPay to purchase Melania Trump’s NFT collection. The company has also tweeted out that it has played no part in the initiative.

The statements released by both companies are interesting as it is quite obvious that they are making an effort to distance themselves from the former first lady. The intention behind their lack of enthusiasm could be chalked up to Melania’s husband, the controversial former President, Donald Trump, who had made quite some disparaging remarks against cryptocurrencies.
