Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has suggested that Elon Musk could be crowned the ‘King of Crypto’ if he purchases their ‘Doge Crown’ from their first collection NFTs. The crown is an NFT from the fashion house's first collection and draws inspiration from the Doge palace in Venice, Italy rather than from Musk’s favoured Dogecoin cryptocurrency.
The owner of the Doge Crown will hold a physical and digital piece that took hundreds of hours to create by hand and features 7 blue sapphires and 142 diamonds. The Dolce&Gabbana debut NFT collection has reached bids of over $1.5M on the UNXD marketplace, and will close on the 30th September.
While the Doge Crown has nothing to do with Dogecoin cryptocurrency, the UNXD Twitter account suggested that Elon Musk should be the king of crypto, with Dolce & Gabbana retweeting and adding; "legend has it that the special collector that owns The Doge Crown will thereafter be the anointed King of Crypto..."
The piece of jewelry is part of the larger collection personally designed by Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana that includes 9 hand made pieces, each of which have corresponding NFTs. The collection includes Dress from A Dream, The Glass Suit
The Impossible Tiara, The Impossible Jacket ,The Lion Crown, and The Doge Crown.
Collezione Genesi is the first luxury NFT collection that bridges the gap between the physical and metaphysical, listed on the UNXD platform where it is described in the following way:
“This historic collection was personally designed by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana exclusively for UNXD. A remarkable level of detail has gone into every aspect of this collection and corresponding ecosystem. It transcends both the physical and metaphysical world.”
If Elon Musk were to purchase the crown, it would cost him over 165 ETH, its current high bid. The winner of the Doge Crown also wins access to a number of exclusive experiences including 2-year access to Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria couture events in Italy, a private tour of Dolce & Gabbana atelier in Milan and a 2-week exhibition of The Doge Crown in the Dolce & Gabbana flagship store in Milan with the collector’s name.
