Litecoin Enters Kickboxing World To Boost Adoption

It has recently come to light that the Litecoin Foundation will be partnering up with the premier kickboxing league Glory in order to become the official cryptocurrency for its online merchandise platform and global events.

In a recent press release by the Litecoin Foundation, we can see that Glory will have Litecoin into its online store for merchandise. The kickboxing league will also allow their fans in Europe and the United State to use Litecoin to buy several - Litecoin-exclusive - event related privileges. This would include things like “athlete meet-and-greets, backstage arena tours [...] and premium in-arena seating.”

The founder of the Litecoin Foundation, Charlie Lee has given his thoughts on the partnership and that potential that it has to push crypto adoption further:

“GLORY has a growing worldwide fan base that consists in large part of a younger demographic who are early adopters of technology and conduct much of their lives online - from consuming content to purchasing products. [...] Tapping into their global audience and educating them about Litecoin through real world use cases can be powerful.”

Founded in 2012, the kickboxing league is operated by Glory Sports International and hosted international events for a mix of combat disciplines including martial arts like Taekwondo, Karate and Muay Thai as well as boxing. Maintaining Glory has offices all over the world in Denver, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Amsterdam. This has helped the league cover more than 200 regions for media coverage worldwide.

This newfound partnership with Litecoin determines that the cryptocurrency will receive exposure across many Glory events, social media and broadcasting according to the press release.

Even though the new Litecoin partnership will bring cryptocurrency into a well-established industry into the global sports arena, numerous high profile sports clubs have moved to launch their own proprietary crypto tokens.

Last autumn, the French football club Paris Saint Germain which has been hailed as the country’s “most popular” team, partnered with blockchain platform Socios.com to incentivise and monetise the engagement of fans and experiences through a token ecosystem.

These are all great steps towards mainstream adoption for both cryptocurrency and blockchain. Hopefully, we will see more of this throughout 2019.
