Here is the draft news article for Althalla.com: Ethereum Founder Warns of Potential Risks at Intersection of AI and Crypto

Table of Contents

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin discussed the combination of crypto and artificial intelligence (AI) in a recent blog post , warning developers to “tread carefully” with this intersection of technologies.

Potential and Concerns

Buterin sees potential in more powerful AI integrating with crypto advances like zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), and multi-party computation (MPC).

However, concerns revolve around integrating AI into blockchains for subjective decision-making in smart contracts and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).

Buterin explained that AI involves learning, reasoning, using rules, self-correction, problem-solving,natural language understanding, and pattern recognition. He describes AI as a “big computational soup” that optimizes for desired properties.

Challenges of a “Singleton”

But there are challenges in creating applications that use blockchain and cryptography to form a single decentralized trusted AI, known as a “singleton.”

In December, Buterin proposed methods to simplify Ethereum’s proof-of-stake design by reducing signatures required in each block.

His proposals aim to address potential complexities within Ethereum’s consensus mechanism.

Vitalik Buterin continues to contribute to dialogue around blockchain’s complexity and evolution.
