Bitget Launches $10M Fund to Empower Women in Blockchain

Table of Contents

Crypto exchange Bitget has launched the Blockchain4Her initiative, which includes a $10 million fund to support female-led blockchain and web3 startups. The initiative aims to bridge the gender gap and empower more women to take leadership roles in the industry.

Incubation and Funding for Female Entrepreneurs

Blockchain4Her will offer incubation programs tailored to female entrepreneurs, backed by the $10 million fund. Bitget’s research shows that female-led blockchain startups received only 6% of total funding within the industry.

Gracy Chen, Managing Director of Bitget, said “Diversity is key for sustainable growth in the blockchain industry. Our Blockchain4Her initiative aims to level the playing field by providing incubation programs, pitch competitions, and recognition events.”

Tackling the Gender Gap

The initiative is geared toward tackling the significant gender disparity in venture capital allocation. Data shows that between January 2022 through Q3 2023, female-led web3 firms obtained only $1.77 billion of the $27.85 billion in startup funding. The percentage of female professionals in the crypto industry is also declining.

Bitget’s Blockchain for Youth program also allocates a $10 million fund for global blockchain startups through educational campaigns and meetups. The $10 million Blockchain4Her fund is part of Bitget’s vision to create a more equitable future through blockchain.

The announcement of Blockchain4Her coincided with the Web3 Hub Davos event at the World Economic Forum 2024.
