XRP and ADA Share a Strong Sell Rating, but Only One Faces a Steep Trend
Three Things to Know
- A security breach at Binance triggered more than $1.5 billion in crypto liquidations, most of them bullish bets.
- XRP is sliding without a strong trend, while sellers firmly control Cardano's downtrend.
- Cardano's nearest support near $0.17 has no clear floor beneath it, which makes it the level to watch.
Leveraged crypto traders were forced out of their positions after Binance disclosed a security breach and froze deposits and withdrawals. The exchange said it will cover user losses while its review continues.
XRP and Cardano both carry bearish readings after the shock, yet their charts look different. XRP is drifting lower, and Cardano is being pushed. Traders now want to know whether the late short squeeze can lift both tokens, or whether Cardano breaks first.
Binance Breach Sparks a $1.5 Billion Long Wipeout
Crypto traders betting on higher prices took a heavy hit after Thursday's security breach at Binance. The exchange estimates $6.3 billion in assets were affected. It pledged to cover user losses and paused deposits and withdrawals while it ran security checks.
Forced selling followed fast. Derivatives data show $1.53 billion in positions liquidated in a day. Longs made up about $1.29 billion of that. Most of the damage landed late, with $1.37 billion wiped out in the latest 12 hours.
Binance itself was the largest venue, recording $754.6 million in liquidations. The biggest single casualty was an $11 million bitcoin long on the same exchange.
Bitcoin fell to about $76,460 on Oct 30 before recovering toward $78,500. That bounce flipped the pressure. About 95% of liquidations in the latest hour hit short sellers.
XRP traders felt their own share of the pain. Liquidations in the token reached $38.1 million.
XRP Drifts Below Both Averages Without a Real Trend

XRP traded near $1.25 on Friday, below both of its key moving averages. The 50-day average sits around $1.35, with the 200-day just above it. Both lines now act as ceilings, so any rally has to clear two layers of overhead selling.
The monthly picture shows how much ground the token has lost. XRP is down about 16% in a month. That slide started well before the Binance breach, and the liquidation wave only deepened it.
Momentum readings stay soft. RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of buying and selling pressure, stands at 37. That is weak but still above the oversold zone below 30, so sellers have room to push further. The MACD also remains below its signal line, which means momentum is still pointing down.
The trend gauge tells a different story. XRP shows no strong trend in either direction. Sellers have the upper hand, but they are not pressing it hard. The token is drifting lower more than it is breaking down.
On the daily chart, the first test for buyers is resistance near $1.31. A close above it would open a path toward $1.40, close to where the two averages sit. Below the current price, support waits near $1.05. A break there would expose the next floor around $0.99.
XRP added about 1% in the latest session. That small gain suggests the short squeeze that lifted bitcoin reached XRP too. One green day leaves the trend intact. Still, it shows buyers are willing to step in on dips.
Sellers Keep Cardano Pinned Near Support

Cardano tells a harsher story. ADA traded near $0.19 on Friday and finished the day flat. ADA sits in a real downtrend, and sellers are driving it.
The losses run deeper too. ADA dropped about 9% in a week. It lost about 21% in a month. Both slides are steeper than XRP's, which shows heavier and steadier selling in Cardano.
ADA trades below its 50-day average near $0.22. Its 200-day average sits higher, near $0.24. Both lines sit overhead as ceilings. A recovery would need to climb through each one before the trend could turn.
Momentum offers little comfort. RSI stands at 31, just above the oversold line. That reading shows sellers have pushed hard, and a pause or relief bounce often comes near this zone. MACD remains below its signal line, so the downward push has not faded yet.
On the daily chart, support sits near $0.17. The data show no second floor beneath it, which makes this level the last clear line of defense. A clean break could leave ADA searching for buyers in open space.
Rebounds face a cap near $0.21. Above that, the next hurdle waits around $0.23. Until buyers reclaim the first level, any bounce looks like a pause inside the downtrend.
What Flips the Next 72 Hours
The Binance fallout and the late short squeeze leave both charts close to their trigger points.
- Bullish: If the squeeze keeps running, XRP could close above its first resistance and ADA could clear its nearest ceiling. That would mark the first sign of a real recovery. The setup fails if XRP slips back under Friday's price or ADA loses its current level.
- Bearish: XRP breaks its first support and slides toward the lower floor, while ADA gives up its last clear line of defense. Reclaiming both first resistance levels would cancel this path.
Weak Bounce, Heavier Risk for Cardano
Both coins remain bearish after the Binance shock. Cardano carries more risk because sellers are actively steering its trend, while XRP is mostly drifting. That makes ADA the weaker of the pair if pressure returns.
Fresh details from Binance's security review could tip the balance. Any sign that losses run deeper could set off another wave of forced long liquidations.
