LINK Holds Its 200-Day EMA While AVAX Trades Below Every Key Average
Three Things to Know
- A reported outflow from a Binance hot wallet triggered a leveraged sell-off that hit mid-cap altcoins hardest.
- Chainlink bounced right off its long-term average, while Avalanche still trades under every major trend line.
- LINK's grip on the $11 area now decides whether the rebound has legs.
Chainlink and Avalanche are trying to recover after a scare around a Binance hot wallet set off a wave of forced selling. The exchange paused some withdrawals and has not confirmed any loss of customer funds.
The rebound matters because both tokens had already lost about a quarter of their value this month. Traders now want to know whether this bounce marks a floor or just a pause before sellers return.
A $2.8B Binance Wallet Scare Sent Altcoins Into a Leveraged Flush
On the evening of Oct 29, about $2.8B reportedly moved out of a hot wallet attributed to Binance. The exchange paused withdrawals on some networks, and no loss of customer funds has been confirmed. Binance had said on Oct 27 that it repelled several cyberattacks without any outflows.
Traders did not wait for answers. Liquidations in the peak hour reached roughly $590M to $628M, mostly long bets. Estimates for the full day range from $356M to $834M.
Bitcoin fell about 5% to near $76,900 on Oct 30. Ether lost about 6% to around $2,210.
Mid-caps took the harder hit. Higher beta, thinner order books and heavy leverage turned routine selling into a flush. Chainlink slid about 11% to near $10.40 that day. NEAR fared worst, dropping about 16%.
On-chain data offers one steadier signal. LINK has logged 18 straight days of net outflows from Binance, with the latest reading near 280,200 tokens. That pattern suggests holders are pulling coins into their own custody.
Chainlink Bounces Right Off the $11 Line It Cannot Afford to Lose

Chainlink has clawed back some ground since the crash. The token trades near $11.04, up about 4% over the past day. That lifts it just above its 200-day average.
A moving average smooths out daily swings to show the underlying trend. The 200-day line tracks the long view, and LINK has now bounced right off it. For now, that average is acting as the floor.
The bigger picture still favors sellers. LINK has shed about 24% over the past month and remains below its 50-day average near $12.12. Trend gauges show a downtrend led by sellers, and momentum still points down.
RSI, a 0 to 100 gauge of momentum, reads 38. That is weak, yet well short of the oversold zone below 30. Buyers have stepped in, but without much force behind them.
On the daily chart, first resistance sits near $12.06. The 50-day average lies almost on top of that level, which makes the zone a tough ceiling. A clean break would open a path toward the next hurdle around $12.71.
The downside is just as clear. A daily close back under the 200-day line would hand control to sellers again. The next support sits near $9.75, below the crash low.
That level would need to hold. If it gives way, the chart shows little in the way until a deeper floor around $7.95. For LINK, the $11 area has become the line that decides the next leg.
Avalanche Has Every Average Overhead and Thin Support Below

Avalanche joined the rebound, but from a weaker spot. The token trades near $8.51, up about 3% on the day. It still sits below its 200-day average around $9.11. The 50-day average sits higher, near $9.35.
That leaves the bounce inside a downtrend. Both long-term lines now act as ceilings, and sellers have controlled the past month. AVAX is down about 25% over 30 days and about 7% on the week.
RSI reads 35, a touch softer than Chainlink's. Momentum is weak and falling. The sellers' trend is only forming, which means it has room to deepen if pressure returns.
The first test sits overhead. Resistance near $9.21 lies just above the 200-day line, so that narrow band is where buyers must prove themselves. A daily close above it would put the next hurdle around $9.76 in view.
Support is far away. The daily chart shows the nearest floor near $7.04, a long drop from current prices. Below that, the next cushion sits around $6.15. Until AVAX reclaims its averages, rallies look like short relief moves.
What Flips the Next 72 Hours
The Binance story remains the main driver, and three levels decide which way it breaks.
- Bullish: LINK closes above first resistance, where the 50-day line also sits, and AVAX reclaims the band just over its 200-day average. That would put both coins on course for their next hurdles. The setup fails if LINK slips back under its 200-day line.
- Bearish: LINK loses the 200-day line and drifts toward the support under the crash low. AVAX would then likely slide to its distant first floor. A LINK close above first resistance would cancel this view.
LINK Earns the Benefit of the Doubt for Now
LINK has the steadier rebound. Its long-term floor held through the flush, and the steady drain of tokens off Binance hints at patient holders. AVAX remains the weaker chart, with every average still overhead.
Both setups stay fragile. Any fresh news about that Binance wallet, or another wave of forced selling by leveraged traders, could break both floors within hours.
