Bitcoin Payments Expand Into E-Commerce as GoBTC Pay Launches WooCommerce Integration

Bitcoin payments are becoming more accessible to online retailers as GoMining's GoBTC Pay introduces an official plugin for WooCommerce, allowing merchants to accept BTC directly through their WordPress stores.

The plugin is now available for free through the official WordPress Plugin Directory. It enables businesses using WooCommerce to introduce Bitcoin as a payment option without building custom integrations or requiring specialized blockchain development.

The launch targets one of the largest segments of the online retail market. WooCommerce is widely used by independent businesses and established retailers, making the integration a potential gateway for bringing Bitcoin payments to more everyday shopping experiences.

Through the plugin, customers can pay in BTC during the standard checkout process, with transactions processed on-chain using the GoBTC Pay protocol. Merchants can activate the payment option directly from their existing WordPress dashboard.

The company is also preparing to introduce instant payment confirmation for customers using a GoMining Wallet in November 2026. The planned feature is intended to make Bitcoin checkout faster and more convenient for participating users.

Despite Bitcoin's growing recognition as a financial asset, its use for everyday purchases continues to face practical challenges, including payment confirmation times and the technical complexity of integrating cryptocurrency payment systems.

GoBTC Pay's latest integration seeks to address the merchant adoption side of that equation by making Bitcoin acceptance available through a familiar e-commerce platform.

"WordPress is where a huge part of online retail lives, so it was a natural place for GoBTC Pay to go next," said Roman Yermoshyn, General Manager of GoBTC Pay. "With the official plugin, any WooCommerce merchant can start accepting Bitcoin in minutes, right from the WordPress dashboard they already use."

The move reflects a broader effort to make Bitcoin usable as a payment method rather than solely an asset held for investment or long-term savings.

For merchants, adding BTC payments could provide access to cryptocurrency-focused shoppers without requiring major changes to their existing online stores.

The GoBTC Pay plugin is available now in the WordPress Plugin Directory, with additional payment confirmation functionality expected next month.
