Tether and Fasanara Launch $400M StableFund Targeting $3B in Institutional Capital
Tether and Fasanara Capital announced the launch of StableFund on September 9, an evergreen private-credit vehicle backed by $400 million in sponsor co-investment. The fund is targeting up to $3 billion in additional third-party institutional capital, meaning the larger figure is a fundraising objective rather than money already committed.
StableFund launches with $400 million
Tether said the two firms are anchoring the vehicle with $400 million of sponsor capital. StableFund will operate as an evergreen fund, rather than a vehicle with a fixed termination date.
BCR Publishing reported that the $400 million is the capital in place at launch, while the planned institutional raise could bring the vehicle to as much as $3 billion in prospective additional commitments. That capital has not yet been raised.
Fasanara to deploy through fintech lenders
Fasanara will manage StableFund and deploy its capital through fintech lending platforms in more than 60 countries. Its strategy is focused on short-duration, asset-backed credit for small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers.
The structure places Fasanara in charge of the fund's credit deployment while linking its lending activity to Tether's stablecoin infrastructure.
Tether's USDT-linked role
Tether will serve as StableFund’s co-sponsor, originator and adviser, according to CoinDesk. Its role also includes providing USDT-linked financing opportunities and settlement infrastructure, with on- and off-ramps and treasury rails.
As the vehicle is deployed through fintech platforms, those services are intended to connect StableFund’s private-credit strategy with stablecoin-enabled lending and settlement mechanisms.
