Pepe is the king of meme coins, surpassing even Dogecoin to hit a $1 billion market cap with 2023 gains almost unheard of throughout the crypto space.

The project was an exciting reminder of the power of meme tokens in crypto! While projects like Bitcoin and Ethereum are moving at a glacial pace, meme coins still have the capacity for the extreme volatility and major 100x gains that drew many people to crypto in the first place.

Here’s our list of the top four meme coins that could one day surpass even PEPE and DOGE.

Floki (FLOKI)

Floki is an exciting meme project offering a Nordic viking twist on the ubiquitous dog-themed coin we’re seeing everywhere these days. The project has a strong community of almost half a million supporters, and a market cap of $153 million, with over 300% gains seen by early adopters of the project before price slipped back down to earth.

Floki has also launched an initiative to build schools across the world as part of a charity drive funded by gains made from the token.

El Hippo (HIPP)

Taking a leaf out of Pepe’s book, El Hippo  is the only project on our list that didn’t stick to the dog theme. El Hippo is only a month old and has already seen well over 100% price gains and amassed 30,000 followers and a market cap of $4 million, an impressive start for a project still in its early phases.

Investing in a project that is ready to blow at such an early stage is every crypto user’s dream, although, of course, picking the right project can be tricky. Shiba Inu (SHIB)

Shiba Inu is a heavy hitter in the meme coin world. With a market cap of a stunning $4.3 billion, the coin is already a major success, but that’s nothing compared to the value seen in 2021. The coin is significantly below its original market cap, meaning SHIB could be due a major comeback any day now.

While some users balk at the idea of investing in a coin that’s already widely known, there could be something to be said for SHIB’s track record of upside price movements in the past. Dogelon Mars (ELON)

ELON, like many of the other meme coins on our list, saw a major spike in value during the bull market before sinking back down again, leaving plenty of room for a price recovery under the right conditions.
