Budweiser NFTs sell out within the hour and make their way on to second-market platforms

American-style pale lager company Budweiser released their first-ever NFT collection, entering the non-fungible token business by selling out their collection in less than an hour.

In August this year Budweiser acquired the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain called “beer.eth” spending a total of $96,000 in order to acquire this domain. The collection that dropped yesterday was made up of 1,900 “Core NFTs,” as well as 36 super rare “Gold NFTs”.

The NFT website included the following:

“Introducing Budweiser’s first-ever NFT collection: Budverse Cans Heritage Edition. Composed of 1,936 unique digital cans, representing 1936, the year of the first Budweiser can,” the Bud-centric NFT website says. “Each NFT is one of a kind and generated using archived photos, ads, and designs from throughout Budweiser’s storied history. Each NFT will act as an entry key to the Budverse, unlocking exclusive benefits, rewards and surprises for all 21+ (or legal drinking age) NFT holders.”

While all the NFTs sold out within the hour, around 1,500 of the Budweiser NFTs were listed on OpenSea shortly afterwards. The marketing strategy of Budweiser likely included the flipping of NFTs and the popularity of  the drop has enabled the brand to keep the hype as they sell on second-market platforms.

Spencer Gordon, VP of Digital + draftLine at Anheuser-Busch commented on the launch of Budweisers NFT collection:

“The Budweiser Heritage Collection is designed to celebrate the brand’s iconic history while also moving Budweiser into the metaverse,” “The launch of this NFT Collection is yet another example of our innovative and consumer-first approach to further strengthen our iconic brands.
