Esports tournament organizer ESL Gaming has announced its partnership with Coinbase to introduce the latter as the official crypto exchange partner for key ESL events for the rest of 2021 and 2022.

Collaboration To Bring New Integrations

Both companies will work together to create and introduce unique integrations for social media, digital media, and other platforms. Additionally, Coinbase will also support ESL’s Pro Tour circuits for games like Counter-strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II, and Warcraft III. Eryn Alexander, Brand Director at Coinbase, said,

“In its early days, few people foresaw the potential of esports becoming the vibrant and robust thing it is today. We believe the crypto-economy is on a similar trajectory, and we’re thrilled to find partners like ESL who share our sense of foresight and optimism.”

Coinbase Continues Esport Expansion

According to an Esports insider, Coinbase continues to spread its wings in different industries, with the latest being esports. Therefore the collaboration with ESL will act as a gateway to open other doors for the crypto platform. However, this is not Coinbase’s first foray into the world of videogame tournaments. In April, the platform partnered up with CS:GO tournament circuit BLAST Premier and North American esports organization Evil Geniuses.

Great Strides Made In Preparation For ESL Pro Tour

Eli McCarrel, Director of Global Brand Partnerships at ESL Gaming, commented on the deal with Coinbase, saying,

“This is a partnership between two like-minded companies at the forefront of technology and innovation. We look forward to bringing Coinbase into the ESL family and integrating them into future ESL initiatives. This is an industry-shifting partnership and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.”

The collaboration is another impressive addition to ESL’s roster of partners that already features some notable non-endemic brands. Last month, the tournament organizer entered into a strategic partnership with Monster Energy that extended the energy drink’s involvement to include 18 worldwide tournaments and the CS:GO HUB. Monster Energy has been an active partner of Dreamhack since 2014. Now that Dreamhack has merged with ESL, Monster Energy will expand its support to include ESL Pro Tour CS:GO events.

In May 2021, they announced another partnership, this time with Shopify, in which the leading global commerce company will be a key sponsor of the ESL Pro Tour. Additionally, last week, the company announced that had partnered up with mobile controller developer RiotPWR to launch the first ESL controller for mobile phones.
