The biggest mango producer in Australia is getting ready to scale up its use of Blockchain technology for supply and change traceability after a long 2.5-year pilot program.
According to the CRCNA (cooperative research Centre for developing northern Australia), the organisation has collaborated with the leading Australian mango producer known as Manbulloo. The two will also be working with the tracing software company Trust Provenance which will help test a supply chain management program across their network and distribution centres in the Northern Territory of Australia including Queensland.
The project gained some legs in 2018 and employs senses placed in mango crates to track their movement as well as the time of transit and the temperature.
The senator for the Northern Territory of Australia, Dr. Sam McMahon said the following:
“Manbulloo can see where their fruit is across the supply chain in real-time and maintain proactive quality control and quality assurance protocol to address any issues immediately and complement what is already a best-in-industry approach.”
When it comes to the mango industry, Blockchain is seemingly getting ready to change the face of the sector. To that end, Sam added that “this project is shaping up to be a significant game-changer for the mango industry.“
The CEO of the cooperative research centre, Jed Matz also commented on the matter saying:
"The impact of this project will extend beyond the mango industry to other agricultural products and supply chain systems, which may benefit from the efficiencies this Blockchain platform has demonstrated."
