Ripple CEO, Brad Garlinghouse Might Make An Appearance At Davos 2020
  • Head of states, politicians and business leaders from all over the globe are poised to make another appearance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos.
  • Unconfirmed reports have it that the CEO of Ripple (XRP) will show up at the conference.

The World Economic Forum holds today in Davos, Switzerland and as to be expected will play host to business leaders, VIPs, and politicians of all stripes. The controversial forum takes place annually and is one of the most significant events on the globe. This year it will take place from January 21 to January 24. The theme for this year is:

“Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.”

Trump and Boris

In a possibly isolationist move, the UK prime minister Boris Johnson has said he will not be present at the gathering. Johnson has said he will instead focus on delivering economic benefits to UK citizens, rather than gallivanting halfway around the world to do whatever.

This is in stark contrast to Donald Trump, the U.S. president who in an interview with reporters last week stated that he would probably attend the gathering. He also mentioned that he had been issued an invitation he intended honoring and intends to meet and greet with most of the business and world leaders who will be present at the forum.

Minister Bruno Le Maire, the French economic minister was quoted as expressing hopes that the knotty issue concerning the French digital tax that is triggering recriminations between France and the U.S. might be resolved at the end of the week at the latest. Earlier he said:

“We are ready to take steps toward the United States, and we have already proposed a certain number of measures. We hope to resolve by Wednesday,”

He also said the two countries would hold talks on the sidelines of the WEF to resolve the matter to the satisfaction of both countries.

The Ripple Effect

As of now, there are unconfirmed reports that Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse will hold meetings with the ECB head and Donald Trump himself at Davos. The European Central Bank is headed by Christine Lagarde who lately has been very bullish on cryptos. Thus, such a meeting, if it does hold, would be quite significant in its potential role in driving wider crypto adoption, especially among institutions and central banks.

However, the chances that Lagarde will express support for XRP adoption at the event are slim at best. Instead, she is more likely to seek for ways to guarantee the success of her digital euro concept.

Sanna And Greta

Among the guests expected at the WEF is Sanna Marin, the Finnish prime minister, and the youngest such person in that role worldwide. She heads a coalition of four parties, which are all headed by women.

Also present will be the fiery Greta Thunberg, the young and tiny Swedish climate activist who is already more famous than most world leaders. Ren Zhengfei, who founded Huawei Technologies will be at the conference, as will Kristalina Georgieva the IMF manager and Deepika Padukone, a widely acclaimed Bollywood star and mental health activist.

George Soros, head of the Soros Fund Management is expected to be at the conference, as will Steven Mnuchin, who serves as the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
