Michael Zinaman was recently hired by Fidelity Investments as a product specialist to further help the development of a range of products in the firm.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that Zinaman had started at the financial services company on November 12th. The company’s strategy on cryptocurrencies is what Michael is going to be primarily focusing on as well as, custody and execution services.

Zinaman has been at the firm now for just over a month according to a source close to the matter.

Looking towards his LinkedIn profile, it goes onto show that before he started his new job at Fidelity, Zinaman was working as a managing director of blockchain and digital assets at Canaccord Genuity. However, before he started in that position, he was the senior vice president at Imperial Capital.

The CEO of Fidelity Investments, Abigail Johnson said last month that the firm is ready to launch its crypto custody business after a 12-month preparation and an increase in clients.

The personal investing president of Fidelity Investments, Kathleen Murphy said that Fidelity has a very skittish approach to trading crypto.

“You know, we’re really careful about that. So while we embrace crypto in terms of trying to understand it and be innovative and thoughtful… We’re also very careful about where we offer those types of things, so they’re not offered broadly on the retail platform. We want to be very careful about making sure that investors who really aren’t institutional investors [...] don't make a mistake with cryptocurrency.”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
