News was revealed earlier this week in a November 12th report from United Kingdom-based industry magazine campaign that Unilever, O2 and Sky are three of the biggest companies to sign up to Jicwebs’ blockchain pilot program which has been designed to improve trust and transparency in digital advertising.

Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards, otherwise known as Jicwebs initially announced its blockchain pilot initiative in May of this year.

As reported by CoinTelegraph:

“It counts the participation of major global media agencies Zenith, OMD UK and Manning Gottlieb OMD, who have been evaluating the potential for blockchain technology to bolster transparency in the sector and increase operational efficiency.”

Some of the UK’s most popular online platforms such as Gumtree, Netmums and Rightmove have also all signed up to get involved with the project.

An entity representing the UK’s leading advertisers, ISBA is also making an end-to-end audit of some of the problems that are having a direct impact on the digital ad sector, in the reflection of Jicwebs pilot project. This move from ISBA is mainly in regards to trust and brand safety.

Managing director of the Association of Online Publishers, Richard Reeves has said that the entity is happy with “all initiatives that increase transparency for our members and shed light on where advertising spend is being distributed across the digital supply chain."

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily!
