Brokerage Firm Looks To XRP For Adoption

TD Ameritrade, the financial services company and the United States brokerage giant is looking to whether it should start to bring in XRP to its millions of retail investors including other cryptocurrencies as well. One Twitter user posed the question about whether it will give its customers the option to trade XRP, the companies live broadcast financial network responded to the tweet saying that the team is working hard to make things happen. TD Ameritrade has shown interest in cryptocurrency in the past before. Back in October, the firm was investing in a new regulated digital currency exchange for spot and futures trading opened by Eris Exchange called ErisX which is based in the Chicago derivatives market.

As reported by The Daily HODL, “ErisX is designed to offer traders access to cryptocurrency spot contracts as well as futures contracts on a single exchange.” A spokeswoman for the firm, Jessica Darmoni has said that investors will now be able to trade in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin as well as futures contracts on digital currencies.

During this time, the brokerage giant said that the retail customers “are seeking to access and trade digital currency products in the same way they do with traditional capital markets – through a legitimate, regulated and transparent exchange.”

As TD Ameritrade explores XRP and other cryptocurrencies, this suggests a big institutional interest in the crypto space. As more institutions gain interest in the industry, there is a chance for more mainstream adoption for Bitcoin and the rest of the market.

Currently, XRP is the second biggest cryptocurrency in the market with a market cap of over 12,400,000,000, giving it a price of $0.30 at the time of writing. Ripple’s native token is currently in the red being down 1.16 percent over the past 24 hours.
