PundiX Make World's First Blockchain Phone Call
Humans have achieved some incredible feats, incredible ‘firsts’ that have changed the shape of history. The first man to walk on the moon is just one of the examples that may spring to mind here. Granted, this might not as impressive as putting your whole life at risk to go into the depths of space, PundiX is set to keep world firsts going with the announcement of the world’s first blockchain phone call made on their new blockchain focused mobile phone, the XPhone. PundiX believes that this will be able to run without the use of a centralised mobile carrier. In a recent post on Medium, PundiX announced the phone saying:
“At Pundi X, we believe in harnessing blockchain technology and find ways [sic] to integrate it into people’s everyday life and make it better.
To this end, we never stop looking for ways to find and create new applications for blockchain. It’s this spirit that has driven us to create the world’s first working blockchain-powered point of sales device.
And today it’s this that has led us to bring blockchain to the world of telephony, data transmission and storage; a world far beyond financial transactions and transfers.”
According to CryptoGlobe a new slate of press releases, adding to this, show that the the company, based in Singapore is also announcing their own suite of application layers to support the new phone which includes Function X, a customer build blockchain. The home built app ecosystem is created to complete the aim of decentralising all apps, websites, communications and data.According to unhashed:
“Function X is not just a public chain. It is a total decentralized solution. It consists of five essential components: Function X OS, Function X Blockchain, Function X IPFX, FXTP Protocol, and the Function X Docker. All five have one sole purpose which is to decentralize all apps, website, communications and data.”
HTC has also recently announced a blockchain phone called the Exodus. The FXTP protocol is a recent announcement, however, few details were given but it seems that Pundi will deploy their ecosystem into both the public IPFS addressing system and through a Docker packaging system.
