This new mention of cryptocurrencies has sparked excitement, and has given enthusiasts optimism for this coming year.
In a conference that was held on Thursday, Mark Zuckerberg referenced cryptocurrencies, and how he would spend this year trying to correct persistent problems that have been found on his social networking site. He said;
â[This is] including the proliferation of hate speech and misinformationâ.
The above problems have surrounded his widely popular social networking sight for the last two years.
Speaking of this matter he said;
âThere are important counter-trends to this â encryption and cryptocurrency â that take power from centralised systems and put it back into peopleâs handsâ¦But they come with the risk of being harder to control. Iâm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services.â
Although he has mentioned cryptocurrencies in this most recent conference, actually what this means for the digital currency world remains to be seen.
