Non-Playable Coin (NPC) is a meme coin combined with an NFT, aimed at the entire global population of over 8 billion people. The slogan, "I support the current coin," pays tribute to a meme that gained traction in 2018.
2. What makes your project unique?
NPC is inspired by the non-playable character meme and embraces the humor by creating an ERC20 token, with its supply matching the world's population as of July 26, 2023. Each token can be converted into an NFT at a 1:1 ratio. This setup allows it to be traded on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap as an ERC20 and as an ERC1155 on NFT marketplaces.
This distinctive setup, which enables an NFT to also be traded as an ERC20, is known as a meme fungible token (MFT). An MFT such as Non-Playable Coin (NPC) bridges two usually separate liquidity markets, making it possible for more individuals to own a "piece of the culture" through NFTs.
On the main page, users can toggle between the two formats using the dApp. They can choose to "respawn" as an NFT or "transform" into a meme coin, though the ERC20 format remains the most liquid for trading.
3. History of your project.
The project began by experimenting with NFT AMMs like Sudoswap, where we noticed that ERC1155s were underutilized in exploring new pathways. We also realized that the traditional 10k+ profile picture NFT collections hit a snag due to their exclusivity and gas costs. This project aims to show that scaling communities to millions is achievable using the ERC1155 standard, and that liquidity can be unlocked by making such tokens fungible as an ERC20.
4. What’s next for your project?
Soon, users will have the option to customize their NPCs using an inbuilt tool, allowing them to export these as profile photos. Additionally, we are developing new infrastructure to better connect the liquidity of ERC20 and ERC1155 tokens, with NPC as the main feature.
