Locus Chain strives to become the leading Next Generation Layer 1 Public Blockchain Protocol that achieves complete decentralization and scalability at the same time. Designed as a decentralized and scalable layer 1 blockchain built on patented technologies, Locus Chain supports various projects like DeFi, GameFi, Metaverse, Smart City initiatives, and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). Currently, before the mainnet launch, the Locus token exists as an Ethereum-based ERC20 token issued via smart contract by the Locus Chain Foundation. Since tokens on the public Ethereum network can't be directly utilized on the Locus Chain, hashed time-locked contracts will enable 1-to-1 atomic swaps of Locus tokens from Ethereum to the Locus Chain mainnet. LOCUS will be the primary cryptocurrency needed for all activities within the Locus Chain network and its applications. It serves as a payment method throughout the network's economy. Tokens are used by validators, developers, and users who want to engage with the LOCUS network and earn rewards. Additionally, they are used to cover fees and participate in future governance.
