Aergo

Aergo defines itself as an open-source blockchain platform designed for businesses, optimized for a mix of both private and public blockchain frameworks. It features SQL support, facilitating straightforward data management and enabling developers to use familiar programming languages for smart contracts.

This platform is developed and deployed by Blocko, a South Korean blockchain technology company supported by Samsung. Blocko has reportedly implemented blockchain solutions for major clients such as Lotte Card, Shinhan Bank, Korea Exchange, Hyundai Motors, and others, according to Korean media reports.

Aergo is crafted for enterprise applications, providing the necessary infrastructure for businesses and developers to host decentralized applications (DApps) on the Aergo Chain. It includes a smart contract engine that supports Lua and SQL. On the Aergo platform, private blockchains use a Proof-of-Authority consensus method driven by the RAFT algorithm. In contrast, the public blockchain, known as the Aergo mainnet, operates on a Byzantine Fault-Tolerant Delegated Proof-of-Stake system. Users can leverage the platform to engage with enterprise-level cloud providers, like major telecom companies, to host their private blockchains on designated nodes.

Future Blocko services will utilize Aergo Enterprise products necessitating AERGO tokens. A practical example is a fingerprint credit card verification solution implemented by Lotte Card, which employs Aergo's Lua smart contracts integrated with SQL. This solution has reportedly reduced Lotte Card's manual security costs for fingerprint authentication by 90%. Some of their clients include POSCO, Korea Stock Exchange, Shinhan Bank, and Hyundai Motor Group.
