You Could Be As Rich As John McAfee

The ultimate goal for many cryptocurrency investors is of course to become as rich as major cryptocurrency players such as John McAfee. Of course, McAfee did not initially build his riches through cryptocurrency, it all started with computer software, however now McAfee is considered as one of the world’s most valuable players within cryptocurrency. He’s also considered as one of the most controversial, so, his latest statements on social media might not come as much of a surprise.

It turns out that actually, if you own as little as $1.00 worth of Bitcoin, or even $1.00 in FIAT currency, you could be richer than John McAfee, the man himself.

In a strange turn of events, McAfee has taken to Twitter to state that his net worth equates to $0.00, stating he only owns the bare necessities in life. In the tweet, McAfee says:

“People keep asking what I am worth. The answer: My net worth has been zero for almost 8 years. It has not fluctuated. I may temporarily have cash or assets in my possession  but they are loans or the equivalent of escrow deposits. I own nothing but my clothes, eyeglasses, etc.”

Now, let’s consider McAfees actions on social media, posing with weapons and even claiming that he is considering running for the White House in the United States, it seems a little unrealistic him stating that he’s essentially broke and has been for the past 8 years, doesn’t it?

The likely reason for this of course is that McAfee is currently under investigation by authorities in the United States, according to some reports, the IRS are one such agency with an interest in McAfee's financial standings. These tweets seem to have been designed to try and throw them off the scent, though surely this isn’t going to make a difference? As one such report by Chepicap states:

“John McAfee fled the US in imposed self-imposed exile back in January of this year, after being indicted by a Grand Jury back in the states. ‘I have not paid taxes for eight years. I have made no secret of it' he said at the time. Today, Jan. 22, the IRS has convened a grand jury in the state of Tennessee to charge myself, my wife, Mrs. McAfee, four of my campaign workers with unspecified IRS crimes of a felonious nature.' 'They want to silence me. I will not allow that.' Chepicap managed to catch McAfee just as he reached his safe haven in the Bahamas.”
