Tech for Better or Worse?

TNW Conference has attracted hundreds of thousands of tech enthusiasts and decision-makers over the years. They pride themselves on pushing the envelope with each new edition, and TNW2019 is expected to be no exception. May 9–10, 2019 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands sees the start of a two-day festival showcasing industry leading speakers, top quality panel discussions and workshops.  The event is a superb example of diversity on many levels with topics ranging from AI to blockchain and practically everything in between.

As technology rapidly advances the TNW Conference sets its focus squarely on the next ten years to predict, discuss and invent the future.  Social media guru Gary Vaynerchuk previously said: ‘The event has an incredible line-up of speakers, and the setup and production of the conference was absolutely mind-blowing. I even paused mid-talk to applaud them because this event was off the charts.’

Dragon co-founder Paul Moynan sees Gary Vaynerchuk as a mentor and has followed him for many years; Paul commented that ‘attendees should know they are set for a special event indeed if it gets that sort of praise from Gary Vaynerchuk.  I also like how the Chivas Venture global competition gives $1 million in no-strings funding to social entrepreneurs who blend profit with purpose and showcases the importance of female entrepreneurship.’

Celebrating Innovation

There are literally hundreds of speakers at the event including actress and entrepreneur Zoe Saldana who takes a break from acting in James Cameron’s Avatar 2.  Sought-after speaker, ESA Astronaut André Kuipers, the first Dutchman with two space missions to his name who now translates his personal experiences into talks ranging from space travel and technology to sustainability and energy topics and Larry Sanger, best known as co-founder of Wikipedia.

Distributed Ledger Technology is a gamechanger, with applications from data security to new forms of currency such as Dragon Coin, the world’s number one entertainment coin, blockchain opens up so many possibilities for society.  In the Hard Fork stage industry experts will take a deep dive into regulation, scalability, tokenisation and more to investigate the future shape of blockchain.

The Future is Female

As we move towards an age of gender equality and female empowerment, opportunities for women working in technology and innovation are expanding.  On the new and exciting TheNextWomen, Summit stage attendees can join in with the discussion on the future of women working in technology and innovation and see showcases of the importance of female entrepreneurship.  This one-day summit features roundtable discussions on emboldening women in the industry, as well as keynote talks addressing issues such as closing the funding gap.  In the Netherlands, 1.6% of VC money goes to female entrepreneurs, while over 40% of entrepreneurs are now women.

With 13 conference tracks in operation, it will be impossible to see them all, so the event organisers have created the TNW Conference app giving you the opportunity to start a conversation with other representatives at the conference just by clicking on their company profile.  You can click here to get the TNW app and while you are on your app store why not also get hold of the free Dragon Social Wallet and explore its features as you get ready to enter the world of digital currencies.
