Paris Blockchain Week Summit: The Global Crypto Industry Heads to Europe

Europe is quickly becoming a hub for blockchain innovation and crypto experiments. After Malta unveiled four major legislations for regulating the industry and providing a launchpad for startups across the region, and London hosted its third annual blockchain conference in January, other EU countries have been quick to launch their own initiatives to attract the burgeoning industry’s top talent.

At the forefront is France, where regulators have already announced a framework for initial coin offerings and local startup Ledger is quickly becoming the dominant hardware wallet provider in the industry.

Another sign that France is cementing its position as an innovation hub is the upcoming developer conference in the nation’s capital. The Paris Blockchain Week Summit is scheduled for the 16th and 17th of April, 2019. Organized under the joint High Patronage of the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance and the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, the Summit will be hosted at Station F, the biggest startup campus in the world.

1500 blockchain users, developers, investors, and entrepreneurs have already signed up for the event. With tickets still on sale and a number of discounts and early-bird incentives available, the eventual crowd could be much bigger.

Attendees will have the rare opportunity to hear from and interact with the leading voices in the global blockchain industry. Among the 100 speakers who’ve confirmed their presence at the summit are noteworthy thought leaders and industry insiders such as Arthur Breitman, co-founder of Tezos, Wei Zhou, CFO at Binance, Mark Yusko, Founder & CEO of Morgan Creek Capital Management, and Marjan Delantinne, the Global Head of Banking at Ripple.

High-profile delegates from Parity Technologies, Dash, IOTA,  DAOStack, Bitgo, Tendermint, Celsius Network, MyEtherWallet, Hyperloop, Blockfolio, Ledger, and Blockstack are also expected to grace the stage at the two-day event.

The extensive and dense event schedule is focused on four key themes: Technology, Investment, Regulation and Corporate Applications. Topics include IoT: Wallets for People vs. Wallets for Objects, a panel on Self-Regulation: A Solution for Exchanges and Secondary Market Players, and a discussion of the Key challenges to enhance client relationship with blockchain.

Perhaps the most anticipated part of the two-day event is the startup contest scheduled for April 16th. Thousands of startup applicants from across the world have been dwindled down to just three teams that will present to a jury of experts. Chain Accelerator’s Nicolas Cantu, SCDE Ventures’ Aleksei Antonov, and Melonport’s Jenna Zenk, have already signed on to the jury.

Selected startups have no more than €50.000 in funding and have established their project within the last 18 months. The winning team receives A 50% discount off your incubation fees at Chain Accelerator, a chance to meet other investors from the network and raise funds as well as Full Access Passes for Paris Blockchain Week Summit (worth €1,188 each).

In April, the Paris Blockchain Week Summit will mark an important milestone in France’s journey to becoming Europe’s leading technology innovation and blockchain development hub.
