Hollywood Goes Bitcoin
Earlier in the week, one of the most esteemed actresses of the generation, Gwyneth Paltrow has shown her interest in Bitcoin.
If youâre a follower of the actress then you will have seen her tweet on the 5th November regarding the leading cryptocurrency. This is just another sign of the crypto world becoming more mainstream. The Oscar-winning actress from America tweeted about bitcoin and more specifically an article published on her renowned âgoopâ website which discussed the basics of digital currencies and how to invest in them.
The website describes itself as a lifestyle brand with its roots in content across six key pillars, Travel, Food, Wellness, Work and Style. After being founded in the Autumn of 2008 out of Paltrows kitchen as a homespun weekly newsletter, the site is now massively popular. The actress has said that she wanted "a place to organize her unbiased travel recommendations, health-centric recipes, and shopping discoveries for friends, and she also wanted to get her own questionsâabout health, fitness, and the psycheâanswered."
In the Tweet she sent out regarding the Bitcoin article she says:
For those who donât know, Bill Barhydt is the CEO of Abra which was founded in Saratoga, California back in 2014. The beta was released in 2015 on iOS and Android and now, users can buy, sell and store 28 digital currencies including Basic Attention Token, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, XRP, Cardano and so on.
The Basics of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency and How to Invest
That is the title of the aforementioned article on Goop. the article is essentially a Q&A with Barhydt, covering such questions like What is Bitcoin? And Where can you get it?
One of the more interesting questions that Barhydt was asked is if there are common mistakes or misconceptions you see in this investment space.
In his answer, Barhydt says:
"There is a massive misconception that crypto is shady. Some of that reputation is based on the fact that itâs a new technology and not widely understood yet. But itâs also because the early days of Bitcoin were filled with all kinds of dramatic activity, like heists, drug rings, and other criminal activity. But now we are moving from a phase where cryptocurrencies were a very niche, technical topic to a phase of more mainstream adoption and use. Big institutional investors and name-brand financial companies are getting involved, which will not only bring more users but also kind of help take a little of the edge off cryptoâs Wild West image.â
As stated by CryptoGlobe, this isnât the first time that the actress has got involved in cryptocurrency.according to a post on Abra published in August this year, Barhydt approach Paltrow to be the advisor to the company when Abra was featured on an episode of Appleâs Musicâs âPlanet of the Appsâ.
