âJustin proactively approached us and made a very generous donation, $3m USD equivalent. Respect!âThe $3 million was most likely donated through the TRON ecosystemâs native digital asset (TRX), which will go towards Binanceâs recently launched Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF). In case you didnât know, the BCF is an organisation that doesnât receive profit and was created for a bid to boost the adoption of blockchain technologies and at the same time aiding those in need simultaneously. The mission statement for BCF states:
âOur mission is to lift the Bottom Billion people out of poverty by harnessing blockchain-enabled charitable giving and amplifying philanthropic endeavours by supporting blockchain solutions that unlock new, automated, and transparent pathways for philanthropic endeavours.âTRON can divide groups in some digital currency circles and there were some sceptics that immediately questioned Sunâs donation and asked if there were any ulterior motives or any secret deals. Zhao classed this is an act of goodwill in the crypto space and noted that there wasnât any catch. He also added that there was likely no secret plan behind Sunâs actions due to the fact that Binance has already listed TRX and it has been there for just over a year now. Reporters in Maltaâs recent blockchain central DELTA Summit, the recently appointed head of BCF, Helen Hai talked about the donation from TRON and Justin Sun whilst also explaining what the charity does and how it operates. A big player in the charity world, Hai noted that the blockchain technologies are beginning to mobilise governments, NGOs and the private sector to alter how the charitable giving sector operates. As stated by Ethereum World News:
âMembers of the BCF are reportedly developing a platform that will allow charities to track donations with full transparency and accountability, ensuring that donated assets are used in an optimal manner.âHai added that Sunâs donation will be greatly beneficial for BCFâs aim to achieve the United Nations 17 sustainable development goals which have been floating around in the air for around a decade now.
