Cardano To Design New ADA dApps
On the one year anniversary of Cardano, it was announced that the crypto project would release a sidechain of development kit designed to make the ADA dApp development accessible to the digital currency community. On Monday, IOHK (Input-Output Hong Kong) announced that they have successfully launched the Rust SDK. Developers that are using the Rust programming language can now develop multiple products on top of the Cardano platform. Acting as a database, Cardano’s Rust SDK is an open-source library which provides developers with a range of functions to frame dApps which are designed specifically for the platform. Despite Cardano being written in heavy duty code language - Haskell - it is compatible with Rust too. Developers now have the benefits of flexible and fast languages without the compromise the core functionality. The Cardano platform is designed for decentralised applications (dApps) and since launching a year ago, the crypto project has been primarily built by IOHK, a private development company founded by one of the founders of Ethereum, Charles Hoskinson. The project uses a peer-review process to vet and evaluate new developments to the platform. This prevents bugs and glitches from going into the base code for the network.Hoskinson spoke on the Rust SDK / ADA dApp development and said:
“The Rust project now connects Cardano to a wealth of developers and opens the door for further growth of the Cardano community. We’re excited to see what applications developers create for the Cardano exosystem as it becomes the leading technology in the industry.”
Even though IOHK wants to offer support for the developers working in Javascript, Cardano chose to work in the Rust programming language as it much more secure and quicker than the other options. Lars Brünjes, the Director of Education at IOHK, has said:
“Rust SDK will certainly help make Cardano even more accessible. Using Rust, you can write code that is as fast as C++ but much more secure, thanks to its powerful and novel type system.”
Brünjes argued that the meaning of today’s news goes far beyond the current community of Cardano. Brünjes went on to say:
“It proves an important point, namely that the Cardano platform stands for itself, independent of its Haskell implementation. The Rust SDK serves as a proof of concept for the fact [any] language can target the Cardano platform.”
