Not Only Are PornHub Accepting Crypto, They Want To Start Paying It Too

Adult entertainment website PornHub have announced that one of their side projects ‘Tube8’ is set to see a full migration onto the blockchain, in a move that has been designed to start paying people in cryptocurrency for viewing porn on their website. This comes through a partnership with Vice Industry Token (VIT) and in essence, will allow for the incentivisation of consuming and interacting with pornography. Users will earn crypto for the time spend on the Tube8 website. There are a few things to consider though, note that as it stands, this isn’t really a flawless money making opportunity. According to The Next Web, in an exclusive interview, Robin Turner, a spokesperson from Tube8 has said:
“For as long as I can remember, getting paid to watch porn was always a pipedream; one that was always dreamed about, but never fully realized. Now however, with the introduction of VIT, we are marking a paradigm shift in how people consume adult entertainment. As opposed to having to fork over money to consume content, which some sites require, our users will get paid to consume our free content. The more they interact with our videos, the more money they earn.”
“There are no fees but will hopefully benefit mutually by expanding their user bases and increasing engagement with their respective products through this collaboration. VIT offers Tube8 a way to reward their viewers by monetizing content through the VIT protocol. Whereas before users would log in, watch a few videos and leave, VIT incentivizes them to create an account and interact with the content to generate Vice Tokens. It is the only cryptocurrency that is designed specifically for tokenizing and rewarding viewers of free content on tube sites.”
See more for yourself, here.   We don’t know this yet, but we do believe that in order to really benefit from this, users will have to watch an awful lot of content. With around 150 million visitors a month, competition will be rife too, therefore we don’t imagine that Tube8 will be paying out anything of significant value just yet, it’s only going to be sent to users in fractions of cents at the very most. Even then, VIT is hardly a cryptocurrency that is guaranteed to spike, given the troubles it has experienced in the past. It’s an interesting idea, one that has some real bearing but really, I think this has been set up to just benefit Tube8, and not the viewers as they seem to make out. Still, if watching porn is your thing and you fancy getting your hands on some free crypto, here’s your chance. Just make sure you wash those same hands when you’re done.
